This is an easy to read book even though the subject matter is difficult to contemplate. In the book, the author starts with the one thing you must not do if you suspect your partner is cheating. As an added bonus, the author includes a link to software that can reveal passwords on protected email accounts.

Some of the best parts of the book include sections on lying and lie detection, and guidance for conducting yourself during and after discovering an affair. Anatomy of an Affair, R. Sommer Anatomy of an Affair, R. Sommer (e-Book, 115 pages)

This book starts out with the real reasons people have affairs. According to the author, it's not what you think. She goes on to present case studies which are more interesting than they sound here. A valuable part of the book is the discussion of the five types of affairs and the likelihood that the marriage can be saved for each type. If you're the victim of cheating, you'll know what to expect in the future.

There is also a section on the signs a spouse is cheating. The author states that "there are always signs a spouse is cheating". Some victims stay in denial because the truth is too painful. But, the sooner you acknowledge the truth, the better you can deal with the situation. Finally, the book discusses the myth of the "seven-year itch". Is it real or just a myth? Why Women Cheat, T. Luv

Why Women Cheat, T. Luv (online e-Book-cannot print or download)

This is a VERY lengthy and thorough discussion of all the factors that are involved in woman/wives cheating on their partners/spouses. Many different types of cheating are covered along with the motivations behind the cheating. Good examples of the differences in how and why men and women cheat. If you're looking for a simple, straightforward answer, you won't find it here. This is because there are many psychological, emotional, cultural factors that are involved.

There is a particularly insightful and funny section on hormonal changes, including a story about a man's monthly cycle (what if men had periods). If you have been the victim of a cheating wife, or if you have been the cheating wife yourself, this book will be revealing and insightful for you. Especially good is the discussion about the real reason women cheat, and the differences between men and women. We were pleasantly surprised by the depth and seriousness of this book. Highly recommended.

This book is more like a reference manual for relationships. It is divided into 52 short (2-3 pages) chapters on the various issues in all relationships. Rather than reading from page 1 to the end-typical with most books-you can zero in on the issues most important to you. Some issues are negative: blame, fear, jealousy, lying. Others, however, are positive and aspects of relationships we all want: forgiveness, intimacy, passion, and trust.

Should You Stay or Should You Go? Susie and Otto Collins"Should You Stay or Should You Go?"  Susie and Otto Collins (e-Book, 119 pages)

Before Susie and Otto married each other, they had both been in long term marriages. Both had decided that their previous relationships were not what they wanted, so they left their spouses and divorced. As a result of the soul-searching each went through en route to their divorces, they co-wrote this book to assist others in evaluating their own situations.

As the Collins' admit, this is not a typical book. Rather, it is more of a workbook or guidebook. In the book, you will not find any advice or recommendations. You will find, however, 19 chapters of questions to ask-and answer- yourself while you are deciding if your relationship can be saved or should be saved. Chapters include "Finding Your True Self", "Identifying Patterns of the Past", "Flirtations and Affairs", and "Sorting it all out".

The questions are all simple and straightforward. They are the questions every thoughtful person would ask herself before making such a major life decision as seeking a divorce. However, there is value in working through all the considerations and writing down your thoughts. There may be some issues you haven't considered, or issues you haven't fully thought through.

The authors take no position on staying in or leaving a marriage. Their purpose is for the reader to make an informed, deliberate, and honest evaluation of the current relationship. In this way, the reader will most likely make the best decision for himself/herself, and ultimately for the other person as well.

Rather than stay in mental and emotional turmoil, you may want to get this book. Working through the questions can give you a sense of guiltlessness and thoroughness that will bring you comfort and strength regardless of whether you stay or whether you go.
